Letters of Support from Students
Below is a handful of Letters of Support from students over the last few semesters.
Letter 1
I am pleased to write a letter of support for Kolton Eichers. The first class I had with Professor Eichers was Advanced 3D Modeling. That class ended up being the turning point for me, as I decided that 3D art would be the career I would pursue. A lot of this was due to Professor Eichers's clear passion for the industry he was teaching people to partake in. I ended up taking multiple other classes under him, including Machinima and Traditional Game Development. In every one of Professor Eichers's classes, he always created an engaging learning environment where questions and further exploration were not only welcome but encouraged. There were multiple times I can remember Professor Eichers sitting with me for an hour after class simply to help me troubleshoot and learn from any issues I was having with the given project. He remained a consistent source of support and knowledge for me throughout the remainder of my college career.
With that said, Professor Eichers was one of the cornerstone professors during my time at the University of Utah. His in-class teaching style and his ability to engage and keep a class invested even during 3-hour class blocks were exceptional. Students were often eager to stay after class for additional help and to ask further questions. Kolton Eichers is a professor who not only has a vast wealth of knowledge but is also personally invested in the success of his students. He would always take the time to respond to my questions, even late at night, allowing meto further explore topics we discussed in class. Professor Eichers is someone I wholeheartedly recommend for his ability to engage in a class and his eagerness to share his knowledge across a vast array of areas.
Sincerely,
Cole Scott
Letter 2
In today’s education system, many teachers believe their sole task is to deliver information and ensure students memorize, repeat, and pass the course. They often lose sight of what it truly means to be a teacher: fostering a love for learning and knowledge. Professor Kolton Eichers exemplifies what it means to be an exceptional educator. Over the two years I studied under Professor Eichers, his passion for teaching consistently created an environment that encouraged creativity, excitement for learning, and exploration of the discipline. As a result, I was able to grow my skills beyond those of peers who had different instructors for the same subject matter.
One of my favorite classes was a summer course on Machinima. At the time, I was recovering from burnout and hesitant about taking the class. However, Professor Eichers's enthusiasm for the subject reignited my curiosity and motivation. I chose to pursue an ambitious project that would have been impossible without his guidance and support. Rather than simply providing answers, Professor Eichers encouraged me to think critically and solve problems creatively. This mentorship not only helped me successfully complete my projects but also made Professor Eichers the first person I turn to whenever I faced challenges in class or personal projects. His impact has shaped how I approach learning and problem solving to this day.
Sincerely,
Sabrina Rice
Letter 3
I am delighted to recommend Professor Kolton Eichers for any teaching position
considerations. I had the incredible opportunity to study under Professor Eichers for two years as
an undergrad where he was an invaluable mentor. His guidance was a major contributor to my
growth as a game developer.
Professor Eichers has a wealth of knowledge in the many different veins of game
development, making him a valuable resource to any student. Professor Eichers is constantly
keeping up to date with standard industry practices and researching the newest tools and
innovations to give his students an edge over others as they seek to enter the workforce. Beyond
technical knowledge, he consistently maintains a genuine commitment to his students’ success,
going above and beyond to connect with each individual on a personal level. I have no doubt that
his expertise and enthusiasm will make him an incredible asset to any academic program.
